Catholics interested in software engineering best practices

I'm curious to know what computer science and religious books people are currently reading.

I'm reading:
- Patterns of Enterprise Application Architecture by Fowler. Interestingly written - not dry.
- John Henry Newman by Ker. Biography of the great English cardinal. At times thrilling, at times a bit dry and boring.

What are you reading?

I don't like to read book. Cause need a lot of time. But I read some religious books before, I forgot the book title. I only remember, a book about Fatima (I think is about Lucia's diary), a book about St Faustina (also a diary), "Our Lady Speaks to Her Beloved Priests", etc...

Cool stuff, Allen. I'll need to read St. Faustina's diary sometime - evidently one of Pope John Paul II's favorites.

Currently reading:
- Chants of the Vatican Gradual by Dom Dominic Johner OSB. Reflections on the proper chants of the Mass, arranged by week (old calendar). Skimming through on a weekly basis, but will start in-depth come Advent. Illuminating.

Just finished:
- Gregorian Semiology by Dom Eugene Cardine OSB. Not for casual consumption.
- Thrill of the Chaste by Dawn Eden. Like Theology of the Body dressed in street clothes. Very accessible, pulls no punches.

I like books that combine "accessible" and "pulls no punches". I'll have to check that one out.

I recently finished reading "Reasons to Believe - How to Understand, Explain, And Defend the Catholic Faith" by Scott Hahn. I'm also in the middle of going through a CD set on the Theology of the Body (Naked Without Shame) by Christopher West. It's very profound and enlightening! I highly recommend it.

Hi, recently, I just finish compiling the study guide of Apostolic Fathers: Handing on the Faith by Stephen Ray. This is a great resource. Read this, you will know the history of the Church more.

Pistos, Allen - Interesting stuff - I'm looking up those books now.

I just finished "Diary of a County Priest" by Georges Bernanos. It is one of those books that falls into the category of life-changing. I'm also slogging my way through "read the Bible and the Catechism in one year", which only takes 10-15 minutes per day. And I'm also reading my "HP-16C, Computer Scientist, OWNER'S HANDBOOK" as a nostalgic refresher course on binary math.

Hi everybody
New member here. I quite like the author Matthew MacDonald (big plug for Apress publishing). One of favorite "religious" books of all time is Tony Hendra's "Father Joe" - very inspiring about a british television writer (of the Monty Python era) who has a life-long relationship with a Benedictine monk. It's extremely funny but has some very profound insights - especially regarding the Benedictine life. I am kind of an advocate of the OSB - although I have yet tried to join the Benedictine oblates.
Jon, I bet that life of Newman could be good. As you probably know, he converted many people during his life time - I believe that Gerard Manley Hopkins - a great Catholic poet.

Hi NH - I browsed some of Matthew MacDonald's titles on Amazon - Excel: The Missing Manual, Pro .NET, and others.

Father Joe got some pretty good reviews as well.
