Integrating Christian Values in Teaching Info Tech Subjects

Hello guys,

I am just wondering how to create a classroom environment with an integration of christian values.

We all know how to discuss a very technical subject...

but i find it hard to integrate the technicality and christian values education...

can someone give me help or advise on hoe to create a classroom discussion with both???

Perhaps this question might be more tractable if you could define one Christain value you would like to integrate into your curriculum. Once you have a well-defined goal, you can then figure out how to get there.

As a starting point, you might take a look at something like The Software Engineering Code of Ethics and Professional Practice. Look at the list of principles and see which ones can be easily "Christianized." For example, paragraph 2.02 states that software engineers shall "not knowingly use software that is obtained or retained either illegally or unethically." That's an expression of the seventh commandment.

You could also use problems and examples that express our Catholic tradition. For example, create databases that have Christian names and places that might stimulate someone's curiosity. When I took a course in object oriented technology, an ATM was used as an example throughout the semester. What if, instead of an ATM, something like a parish management application could be built throughout the course? This is completely off the top of my head; something else might be more appropriate for your situation. The main thing would be to have a point of departure for introducing Christian values.
